Report: Pres: Belarus to retaliate Russian limits on milk imports
MINSK, Mar 1 (PRIME) -- Belarus will not leave Russia’s limits on dairy product imports without retaliation, President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview to newswire Belta released on Thursday.
“I want to say that such things will not be left without a response. We will not put up with this,” Lukashenko said. He added that according to his sources, the reason for the Russian restrictions is prevention of competition with milk from New Zealand.
Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight increased laboratory control over products of nine Belarusian meat and dairy product makers on Tuesday. The authority also plans to suspend imports of a wide range of dairy products from Belarus on March 6.
